This month for Fast Friday Fabric Challenge #7, I had to create something using a fabric I've never worked with before. I choose to try working with leather. The diamonds were cut from a leather suite jacket I got dirt cheap at a resale shop. The jacket is a hazy grey color. I decided to spruce it up with color experimenting with different paints to see what affect I would obtain. I tried: shavia paintstick, acrylic, lumiere, and fabric dyes. The results are astonishing. I cut diamond shapes from the leather and incorporated one of each type of paint. I add texture on several of the diamonds. The background fabric also has designs of diamonds with same colors my diamonds. This wallhanging it titled “Dancing Diamonds”, and measures 11’ X 11.”
