"The Triumph of the Jabberwocky”

I focused on the boy who conquered the Jabberwocky. That's what I think this poem is about, conquering fears. This version of what I got out of the poem. The boy is walking through the evening deep forest, and meets a grueling creature. He is quite
brave and uses his powerful sword to take this creature down. He is so
proud of what he has done and takes the head to show how he has conquered
the creature. That is why I called the "The Triumph of the
Jabberwocky.”

For my background I use a piece of fabric that had a medieval forest feel to it. I tried -for the first time- Angelina fabric, and used it to make the sword. I cut a face from another piece of fabric to make the creature's head and pieces of artificial flower stem to make the claws. This was to be an abstract piece, yet it has a touch of realism. I made the body shape of a child using dyed fabric, and a button as the head.

My daughter Alisha, 11, is beginging to like sewing. She made her first wall hanging this pass weekend. She named it Fishes, Fishes, Fishes. It will be displayed in the Sew-Sweet Youth Fashion & Trunk Show at the Orginal Sewing and Quilt Expo. held at the Pheasant Run Resort, Saturday, October 14, 2006.

I went to an apple orchard in September, and it was such a beautiful place. I had never in my life seen so many apple trees. This was my inspiration behind my second fall quilt. This mini quilt measuring 11"X8". The fabric for the sky and the grass gave it a picture perfect scenery, as if I were at the apple orchard again. At the time of my visit, leaves had not begun to fall. This is my interpretation of how it may look now.

This is my first ever cyber post. I made this mini quilt for the Fastfriday Challenge. The challenge begin last Friday, I completed this quilt on Sunday. It was a lot of fun. The quilt measures 11" x 9". The background is a red, purple, and nutural tie-dye. The leaves are made from felt fabric, and I used a gold binding with decorative stitching. I'm still in the process of learning to free motion stitch as I did attempt the backgound, and add lines in the leaves to give it a bit of a realist look. This challenge has encouraged me to do more fall theme quilts.
